Of course Salah would have a hard time. Let us see to that…
All women wanted to know how it was to be pregnant. Actually awful when your own villa does not belong to you anymore. I told Ummi Salah could stay at home, take care of the baby and I would go to work. She agreed to that idea.
Salah meanwhile became very sentimental, as well. He showed me all the new bornes in the neighborhood. I still did not show a lot of interest. The only baby I really fell in love with, was Mahmoud, the last son fm his eldest sister, Amal. At that time we frequented them quite a lot. Amal spoke a little bit of English, because she taught English lessons at primary school. Yet, later on; I learnt that she had learnt all these lessons by heart; i.e. she never has really understood the “real meaning”. The only one of the family who truly understood English was Mufida. She studied in a special field of chemistry; actually it was bio-chemistry. She invented a new treatment against potato insects and she was quite successful.
We went to Amal and to her husband Ludfi. Their children’s names were: Moona, Mustafa, Mohamed, Ahmed and Mahmoud. Mustafa and Mohamed were little bandits, destroying all and everything everywhere. Throwing all on the floor instead into the garbage can and having NO manners at all. Absolutely awful! Their father beat them up instead of talking to them. A major mistake in Libya committed till today. Instead of having a closer look at the situation; you just beat the kids up? What a GREAT solution! Well, I had to keep quiet! And that was already hard!
Let us get back to Mahmoud: he was still a baby. Are babies able to flirt? Yes, they are, cause he looked at me with his big eyes and smiled whenever he saw me. Love at first sight? YES, DEFINITELY. I even made plans… Why not him with my daughter? Yes, now I know how dumb that thought was… But at that time, I was impressed by that idea…
At that time I also liked her daughter pretty much. She was a very advanced girl; very reliable and reasonable. We invited her to go to the fun fair quite a lot. These parks were all over the beach (mainly those areas) in Libya. The children love/d it. I would have, too… Women who are pregnant do better not have such fun… Because of the baby… GREAT! What a bore! Because of that reason Salah had to go to that (some kind of a) rollercoaster. It was not really one of them, they all bear such strange names, like big monster, 1001 night, revolution, hully gully, sky glider, etc. I used to love it: those and the scooters. The scooters are little cars only equipped with a gas pedal and a steering wheel. WOW – what a ride!!! Banging to each other belonges/ed to that one, too.
Salah was upset, he did not like the ride, at all. I would have loved to go. He was rather dizzy when coming back fm the ride… At least I liked it that he was upset. I would have loved to go there. Whenever I moaned, he was upset and then muttered: You have had spotting, so you better stay calm… Moona wanted to go to have a drive in that scooter stuff. Sure, that was truly poison for me! Only one bang and the baby could have been history. There I truly agreed on his veto. I was disappointed abt his behavior: he gave Moona only one chip… She should learn how to drive, so she at least needed two rides, but no. Was he as stingy as my ex?
Puma
One chip. Wow. He probably thought it would make the little one sick?
Or,
Maybe he was a cheapskate. The husband of my mother in law once gave my son a quarter and made him give back change. The look on my son's face was priceless!
1Interesting that Amal only memorized the lessons but didn't really understand them.
So, were you able to understand anything that they were saying or was it too difficult to follow the language? Oh, it must have been difficult all around - too many things coming at you at once!
2YES, he was/still is... Till today!
3WOW - DB AWFUL!!!!!! How can people be like that... As long as we are generous!
Yes, Le E that is a phenomenon, which happens also in the government. I taught English there (ok, still making the "German" into English-translation mistakes) Yet, I was teaching two government classes (only in conversation i.e. speech and talking), average number of 20 pax per class. You cannot imagine 2 pax per class were really interested in learning English, all others were constantly saying the same i.e. you ask them sth (any question with SAME answer all the time!!!), they reply (surely till today): I am so and so, I drive so and so, my hobbies are so and so... AWFUL! Brainwashed!!! That was all I got to know!
4Well, you know, we women are stronger in that stuff and can bear far more re: soul and conscious than men... otherwise men would be mothers...
