Most of the Libyans behave/d like racists. They did neither like the Moroccans, the Egyptians, the Tunisians nor the Saudi Arabians. I felt awful. Why? So many humans are different. There are good ones everywhere! It is pitiful to think that way! In Switzerland Salah had to face that 50 % of my family was against him! Now he told me abt the Egyptians. All there were cheaters and would just take money fm you and never pay it back. I never thought of the saying fm my mother: Those who think you are behind the bush are there themselves; i.e. If someone thinks that the other ones are bad, they (usually) are bad in the first place. How true! How sad! I had to learn my lesson the hard way.
Libya’s vegetable was only sold seasonally. Only some fruit which had been imported, was sold throughout the year. I was looking forward to the artichoke season, the fresh oranges (best I have ever tasted in my entire life, so far), I was so happy to skip the dates fm my menu. I also have been able to taste the best peaches and medlars in Libya. The medlars were a little bit sour and small but VERY delicious! Later I made quite a lot of jam out of various fruit. I also liked the apricots. Still in Switzerland canton Valais has got the best apricots till today; and France of course. My favorite berries were only available as a jam: raspberries… I was sure that my daughter and I would eat a ton of those when in Switzerland. There I was able to buy them throughout the whole year; because they were frozen… We also had the “usual” stuff: bananas, pears, apples. As already mentioned the grapes were amazing. Sure, they were in the sun all the time. You may be able to go for a sweet wine or heavy red wines, if you knew how to treat and how to press the grapes… Then it would be awesome. Unfortunately the Libyan wine is awful. I only smelled it once – I would have never tasted such a juice! Should it ever come so far, that the Libyans were to understand how to make good wine, then the Italians and the French would have another competitor in the market.
Since there were no pineapples, I was unable to produce my oil. I make pineapple oil by myself. It is enriched with natural enzymes and helps the skin a great deal!
